Desktop Support Technician II

Municode is a growing legal publishing and technology company looking to hire an experienced Desktop Support Technician. This position will take on the desktop support responsibilities and serve as the team lead for IT support. The preferred candidate will have a drive and desire to know more about IT operations and will consider troubleshooting and helping others their strong suit. The position’s primary responsibilities are as follows:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage desktop support queue and assist end users and other support staff.
  • Assist systems administration with creation of VDI desktop pools and test efficiently with end users.
  • Manage VDI zero/thin clients via Dell cloud management portal.
  • Leverage Microsoft RSAT and other remote administration tools to efficiently support staff and server environment.
  • Oversee Windows print server management and help support Konica Minolta printer fleet.
  • Create a reliable Windows desktop imaging platform utilizing WDS for standalone desktop deployments.
  • Control Windows patching for all Windows desktops and servers.
  • Monitor backup/replication jobs and generate file/VM restores when needed.
  • Help with administration of hosted CenturyLink VOIP phone system.
  • Manage endpoint security client (CB Defense) on workstations and VDI virtual machines.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware/software in the domain. 

Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and work well with others.
  • Take on desktop support operations in a managerial role and provide solutions in solving problems for other support staff. 
  • Contribute to monthly on-call rotation where one weekend of responsibility is assigned.
  • Experience configuring and administering a VDI environment with over 100 virtual desktops. 
  • Able to travel to the business co-location when services are needed.

 Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in MIS, IS, Computer Science or any other equivalent field of study.  
  • A+ certification is preferred.
  • Net+ certification is preferred.
  • Windows MCITP/MCSA/MCSE is a plus.
  • VMware Horizon 7 experience is a plus.
  • At least 2-3 years experience as a desktop support technician (Tier II).
  • At least 2-3 years experience managing virtual machines in a VDI environment.
